Friday, April 26th – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out the films opening this weekend. Blockbuster maven, Michael Bay returns to the directors chair this weekend with, “Pain & Gain” (R) starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. This over the top action flick tells the story of three Florida based bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion plot gone awry. Let’s just hope Mr. Bay keeps the explosions and transforming robots to a minimum. It seems like we have been here several times before. An estranged family reunites and comedy ensues. This is exactly what we think you’ll get when you check out, “The Big Wedding” (R). Hollywood legends Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon lend their names to this paint by numbers story. Oh, we almost forgot Robin Williams plays a funny priest again.
Saturday, April 27th – Brooklyn’s own TV On The Radio will be returning to their home turf in a major way this weekend. The multi-genre band will be playing the second annual, “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” festival which takes place on various properties of The Brooklyn Academy of Music.
