Slow Art Day is a worldwide celebration of art that encourages people to look at art slowly and thereby experience art in a new way. Friday, April 26th – Sunday, April 28th – With Derek Jeter on the bench till at least the All Star break it’s going to be up to younger guys like Robinson Cano to pick up the slack. Head up to Yankees Stadium all weekend long to see the bombers take on the Toronto Blue Jays. (New York Yankees)

Music & Entertainment

Friday, April 26th – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out the films opening this weekend. Blockbuster maven, Michael Bay returns to the directors chair this weekend with, “Pain & Gain” (R) starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson. This over the top action flick tells the story of three Florida based bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion plot gone awry. Let’s just hope Mr. Bay keeps the explosions and transforming robots to a minimum. It seems like we have been here several times before. An estranged family reunites and comedy ensues. This is exactly what we think you’ll get when you check out, “The Big Wedding” (R). Hollywood legends Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon lend their names to this paint by numbers story. Oh, we almost forgot Robin Williams plays a funny priest again. 

Saturday, April 27th – Brooklyn’s own TV On The Radio will be returning to their home turf in a major way this weekend. The multi-genre band will be playing the second annual, “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” festival which takes place on various properties of The Brooklyn Academy of Music. Nightlife

Saturday, April 27th – Archnemesis will be taking over Le Poisson Rouge this Saturday to light up your weekend. The duo has created a distinctive sound by combining original music with samples ranging from early 20’s blues and jazz to modern hip-hop and soul. (Archnemesis)

Sunday,  April 28th – Our friends at iAdventure.com are simply killing it when it comes to events around town. This Sunday will be no different when they throw, “Oysterfest” at Hudson Terrace. The two session event will feature a fine array of the best seasonal oysters, beers and even an ice luge! If you love shucking and sucking these bad boys down you seriously need to grab tickets right now! (Oysterfest)
