For a glimpse of upcoming events that we’ll be covering, check out the calendar in our side bar to your right. Otherwise, here are a few highlights to check out in and around Manhattan this weekend!

Arts & Culture

Friday, February 1st  - Center 548 will be the home to the 2013 “Outsider Art Fair.” This unique annual event takes attendees through the field of Outsider, Self-Taught and Folk Art providing all with a dynamic atmosphere to showcase compelling and unusual artworks. (Outsider Art Fair)

Sports

Sunday, February 3rd – It’s Super Bowl weekend kids! Its officially party time and we couldn’t think of two better New York City entertainment heavyweights better suited to throw the ultimate game day bash. That’s right iAdventure.com and Hudson Terrace have joined forces for the big game! Head all the way west to see every play on huge on HD TVs generously peppered throughout the venue. The General Admission Salon ticket includes entry to the event in the salon with access to the stationed appetizers, three complimentary well cocktails or beers & access to the after-party on the roof. Enough said.  (iAdventure.com)

Music & Entertainment

Friday, February 1st – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out the films opening this weekend.  Well folks, it looks like it’s one of those kind of weekends at the box office when you have Stallone going up against PG-13 Zombies. The aging action star just won’t call it quits and I think we should give him credit for that. Sly Stallone leads a cast of fresh faced talent in b-movie shoot ‘em up called, “Bullet To The Head” (R). Hey, we just give him credit for sticking with it. For some reason celebrated actor, John Malkovich is in the PG-13 Zombie-Romance film, “Warm Bodies.” It’s odd to see a thespian of his quality in a blatant rip-off of the Twilight films. Oh yeah, he was in a Mr. Bean movie nevermind. Either way, we will see you at the movies!

Friday, February 1st – Saturday, February 2nd –  The roots rival of rock music is alive and well with bands like Mumford & Son and Of Monsters And Men. Yet in recent months, The Lumineers have been on the tip of every indie rock fans tongue. This should be no surprise since they are featured in the Oscar nominated, “Silver Linings Playbook.” Tonight this act from Jersey will be taking over the already sold out Terminal 5. If you grabbed a ticket congrats. If not, go by the Hudson River and say a prayer! (Terminal 5)

Nightlife

Friday, February 1st – Who doesn’t love Drag Queens, right? They are funny and much better then those tired circus clowns! Its the “Hot Mess Factor” at XL Nightclub, a night of lip syncing, dancing, and a ton of other crazy stuff that used to make this city interestingly weird. So, drop your hipster edge and check out famed Drag Queen Lady Bunny strut his/her stuff. (XL Nightclub)

Other

Saturday, February 2nd – Super Bowl weekend demands some, “Super” brew love. That’s why the LocalBozo.com crew is boarding the bus to Jersey for a second year in a row to attend the outstanding, “International Great Beer Expo.” This year 50 breweries from across the globe will descend upon the Meadowlands Exposition Center, each providing samples of their brand’s proudest brewing achievement. Price of entry includes: beer sampling, a souvenir tasting glass, and admission to the beer seminars. Guests can choose to buy tickets for either an afternoon or evening session.
