Friday, January 4th – Ever think about how much your neighborhood is changing? Director, Kelly Anderson has. Head to DUMBO’s ReRun tonight and check out the film, “My Brooklyn.” Anderson delves into her own life a Brooklyn resident whose downtown neighborhood is rapidly changing before her. The documentary, which won the Brooklyn Film Festival Audience Award, pays specific attention to the redevelopment of Fulton Mall, and beginning this Friday through January 10th. Sports

Saturday, January 5th – On Saturday there will be, No Sleep Till – The Brooklyn Nets win! Take basically every train line in town and find yourself at the Barclays Center to root on the Nets as they take on the Sacramento Kings. Tickets still available. (Brooklyn Nets) 

Music & Entertainment

Friday, January 4th – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out this gasoline fueled flick set to terrorize your weekend! That’s right folks, Leatherface is back! “Texas Chainsaw 3D” (R) has now been unleashed, telling what directly happens after the first cult classic. Many of your favorite, “Chainsaw” actors are back in surprising different roles. Be sure to throw on your 3D glasses and look for Chop Top himself, Bill Moseley!

Saturday, January 5th – Indie Rocker’s, Steel Train are nothing if not work horses. The now popular band has been clawing to carve out their place in the ever saturated music scene. Well a decade has past and the boys are more popular then ever. Help them celebrate ten years in rock at their sold out Bowery Ballroom anniversary show! (Bowery Ballroom)

Saturday, January 5th- Still not feeling so well from New Years? Well, your not alone help is on the way! This Saturday night head downtown to West Village favorite, Le Poisson Rouge for, “Beleza NYC.” It’s the events sixth anniversary and they are doing it in style. Join  DJ: Geko Jones and DJ Alex Carioca for a night loaded with Brazilian style spinning Samba, Broken beat, Salsa, Soulful House, Forró, Funk, Hip Hop, Reggae and House music (Le Poisson Rouge)

Saturday, January 5th – The historic Brooklyn Navy Yard is full of hidden treasures and cool businesses that give us a peek into the boroughs past. One such company is, Kings County Distillery. You may have seen their flasks for sale at better liquor shops around town. But for $8 you can tour the distillery and look around their “Boozeum,” filled with relics and info from New York’s history of distilling pre-Prohibition, as well as a tour of the distillery itself. The tour ends with sampling of a variety of their whiskies, including moonshine, bourbon, and a fantastic chocolate whiskey featuring Mast Brothers’ husks.
