What To Do In NYC This Weekend – 1/18/13

Looking for last minute, off-the-cuff weekend plans? LocalBozo.com has got you covered. It’s not too late to figure it all out. For a glimpse of upcoming events that we’ll be covering, check out the calendar in our side bar to your right. Otherwise, here are a few highlights to check out in and around Manhattan this weekend!

Arts & Culture

Sunday, January 20th – This weekend marks the opening solo exhibitions of Cyprien Gaillard, Ed Atkins, Metahaven and Jeff Elrod at the Museum of Modern Art. The museum’s current exhibitions (Now Dig This!, Thomas Lanigan-Schmidt, and Huma Bhabha) will be open as well! (MoMa)

Sports

Sunday, January 20th – It’s true Hockey is finally back! The lockout is over and your New York Rangers return to action at Madison Square Garden this Sunday taking on the perfectly matched Boston Bruins. Even if you’re not a diehard fan there is plenty of beer and fighting to wet your whistle! (New York Rangers)

Music & Entertainment

Friday, January 11th – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out the films opening this weekend. The muscles from Brussels returns! That’s right, Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in “The Last Stand” (R). Arnie plays an aging sheriff whose town is being overrun by a drug cartel. Good thing he has his wacky sidekick Johnny Knoxville to help him out! One a more serious film tip, Mark Wahlberg and Russell Crowe go head to head in “Broken City” (R). The story tells the classic tale of an ex-cop seeking revenge on a powerful city figure after being double-crossed. Either way, we will see you at the movies!

Friday, January 18th – The hardcore masked men of Hollywood Undead will takeover the ever popular Gramercy Theatre. The disguised dudes from the West Coast will rip through tracks from their much talked about new album “Notes from the Underground” and a ton more. There may be zero tickets left so don’t get caught out in the cold. (Gramercy Theatre)

Nightlife

Friday, January 18th – For the last decade Marquee has been one of the most popular clubs in town. It may have been gone for awhile but it’s back this very weekend. Celebrate it’s return in bold fashion with Dubfire with Sleepy & Boo tonight! (Marquee)

Other

Saturday, January 19th – Webster Hall is best known for it’s long history as one of the city’s landmark club venues for both dancing and rocking out. But on this Saturday that will all change when they produce the first annual Beer and Whiskey Festival called East Ville Des Folies! Join hundreds of your fellow New Yorkers, sampling a vast array of spirits in one of the coolest rooms in town (East Ville Des Folies)

Sunday, January 20th – iAdventure.com has taken you on a tour of downtown sampling some of the greatest beers from some of the best bars. That was over a year ago and they haven’t rested since! On Sunday they return to help kick off your new year in spicy style! Get ready to warm up Chiliheads because for one day only the Chili Cook Off is coming to town. Two sessions will showcase a variety of killer chili to chow down on, while putting out the fire with tasty seasonal craft brews. (iAdventure.com)
