Arts & Culture

Saturday, July 7th – Tattoos are some of the best pieces of permanent art money can buy. Masters of all things skin art, “Last Rites Gallery” presents ‘Taboo’, a group exhibit of works by artists in the Beinart Collective, guest curated by Jon Beinart. Works featured in this exhibition explore the theme unashamedly, and fearlessly. (Last Rites Gallery)

Sports

Friday, July 6th – Sunday, July 8th – A huge pitching matching in Queens starts a hot three game series between the New York Mets and Chicago Cubs. Brave the heat to check out Johan Santana battle it out against Wood of the Cubs at Citi Field! (New York Mets)

Music & Entertainment

Friday, June 29th – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out these two flicks coming out today. Director, Oliver Stone is known for his gritty crime dramas. But does his latest film, “The Savages” stack up to his previous masterpieces? Beat the heat and find out for yourself. The drug themed film stars Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch and Blake Lively. And if for some reason you’re interested in a documentary about a flashy pop-star check out, “Katy Perry: Part of Me.” Just prepare for your theater to smell like cheese. Just don’t blame us if these both stink.

Friday, July 6th – CBGB’s was the home of New York City’s underground music scene. Sadly this landmark venue has closed, but its spirit lives on. Enter the,  “CBGB Festival” a four day mega event Featuring over 300 bands, film premieres, screenings, and conference panels at 40 venues. (CBGB Festival)
