Saturday, July 28th – This weekend marks the opening of, “Expressions on the Wall  II” at the Empire Hotel.  This multi artist exhibition will showcase artist collections in various mediums such as; oil, acrylics, and chalk. All pieces are influenced by concepts that connect various schools of art to the contemporary world. (Expressions on the Wall II)

Friday, July 27th – Sunday, July 29th – With the acquisition of Ichiro Suzuki, the New York Yankees are prominently in the spotlight. This major trade only adds to this weekends series with major rival’s, the Boston Red Sox. Tonight’s pitching matching up pits, Phil Hughes against Cook from the Sox. (New York Yankees)

Music & Entertainment

Friday, July 27th – Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out these two flicks coming out today. The “Frat Pack” is back. Head to the cinema to see Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller in, “The Watch” (R). This comedy-scifi hybrid is sure to provide some solid thrills along with the usual Vince Vaughn sarcastic one liners. Over on the more indie side of things, check out Paul Dano team up with “Little Miss Sunshine” director team in, “Ruby Sparks” (R). Dano stars as a novelist who creates a girl from his writing. Either way you go, enjoy some comedy this weekend!

Saturday, July 28th – Sunday, July 29th – The inaugural Catalpa NYC Music Festival is finally here. Be sure to grab up one of the remaining tickets and get your butt to Randall’s Island for what is sure to be the music event of the season. Over forty acts will hit the stage including: The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, Matt & Kim, and Girl Talk. (Catalpa NYC Music Festival)

Friday, July 27th – Tonight the posh Tribeca Grand will be host its annual, “Grand Summer Bash” The massive party will take over two floors of the hotel packing high profile DJ sets by Caroline Polachek from Chairlift, Jorge Elbrecht from Violins, Colleen Nika from Nightvision and Dave P & JDH from Fixed. Saturday, July 28th – Join iAdventure.com, the masters of city fun innovative for the “First Annual BBQ Blowout” The afternoon will be an all out celebration of beers and New York City’s Premiere Barbeque Restaurants. ‘Cue and brew lovers will gather at the Greenwich Village Country Club in Union Square to feast on the best barbeque NYC has to offer.
