Arts & Culture

Friday, February 10th – We have been to his live show at Bowery Poetry, and it left us screaming for more. Taylor Mead is a counter-culture icon, and you can find out why tonight on film! In conjunction with the exhibition Taylor Mead, Churner and Churner will screen two recent documentaries that investigate the artist’s life and his status as a legend of the Lower East Side. Fingers crossed that Mead himself makes an appearance to freak out the squares! (Churner And Churner)

Friday, February 10th- Whoa now Jeremy Lin. Whoa. What in the name of Cablevision is going on at Madison Square Garden and why can’t we watch it? Tonight, Kobe Bryant and the Lakers come to town to extinguish the red hot Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks. (Knicks-Lakers Tickets)

Saturday, February 11th – Sunday, February 12th- It’s a hockey weekend here locally- Join LocalBozo.com tomorrow afternoon at The Rock in Newark as the Florida Panthers come to town to take on the Devils of New Jersey at 1pm ( Devils-Panthers Tickets). Sunday, the Rangers play host to the Washington Capitals in another matinee at 12:30pm at the Garden. Can New York keep the momentum rolling? (Rangers-Capitals Tickets)

Music & Entertainment

Friday, February 10th- Movie release day. Quiet night tonight? Check out these releases coming out today. Big time weekend for movie releases. Check out Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in 3D in “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” (PG) as he joins his stepson on a trip to the South Pacific where he’s been lured by an Island in distress. Wrap your arms around your lady before Valentine’s Day and take one for the team tonight with Rachael McAdams and Channing Tatum’s “The Vow” (PG-13). Or as I call it- a love story with that broad from Wedding Crashers. Finally, “Safe House” stars Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, and is a fun action-packed film that we’d advise you check out in theatres. Go read our review of “Safe House” right now! Don’t blame us if you hate the other two.

Friday, February 10th – Sunday, February 12th – There’s a ton of good live music coming through New York City this weekend. Feelin’ fly? Hop Hop star Wale joins Miquel at Irving Plaza tonight, and tickets are still available, starting at just $58. (Wale Tickets) Also tonight, you can catch the reincarnated lineup of Guns N Roses at Roseland, or you can join LocalBozo.com on Sunday in their 2nd of 3 area shows in New York City clubs. We’ll be at Terminal 5. We’ll also be repping hardcore on Sunday night in Brooklyn at Europa for English Dogs, Havok, and one of our perennial favorites- Toxic Holocaust. Nightlife

Saturday, February 11th – New York’s hottest nightclub is Pacha! Join DJ Boris and the rest of the clubs’ scene makers for what will be the Valentine’s Day Ball of the year. Just remember to line up early for reduced admission, and don’t forget no smiling. Pacha! (Pacha NYC)

Friday, February 10th- Sunday, February 12th- It lasts until February 17th, but if you read about last night’s kickoff event on our homepage, you’re undoubtedly excited for the Stinky Cheese Festival all week long at participating French restaurants. Join Café D’Alsace, Maison, and Le Monde to name a few in a unique, inventive week long celebration of stinky fingers. (Stinky Cheese Festival)

Saturday, February 11th- Head to Chelsea tomorrow afternoon for a beer and pizza pairing event. The west side’s Co. teams with Sixpoint for their Third Annual Beer Pairing. They’ll be pairing up at least 5 different eclectic combos of suds and ‘za and you can get a nice buzz on all the while. (Sixpoint Beer and Pizza Pairing)
