Machine Head Lead Singer Robb Flynn: A LocalBozo.com Interview

Oakland’s Machine Head is the epitomy of a hard working band of road dogs, with seven albums, hordes of dedicated fans, and nearing twenty years as outfit. After a lengthy run on the Rockstar Mayhem Tour this summer, these metal Gods show no sign of slowing down. And since the bands inception in 1992, one driving force has been a constant in moving Machine Head forward come hell or high water, lead singer Robb Flynn.

Flynn commands the stage, utilizing his gift of growl while shredding on his classic Flying-V guitar. Short on stature, but thick on beard, Flynn’s signature sound and look is unmistakable. As you may have seen, our outfit was fortunate enough to attend the Camden, New Jersey stop on the summer tour and we saw first hand how Machine Head fans can come out in force. Flynn brought each and everyone audience member into the fold during their blistering set- all without actually bringing us on stage.

Machine Head has recently unleashed their seventh studio album “Unto The Locust,” which is steadily climbing the charts, selling 17,000 units in its first week alone- good enough to place number 22 on the Billboard Top 200. It is truly a sick album, that any fan of hard rock and heavy metal will love. LocalBozo.com was fortunate to get a few minutes to sit down with frontman Robb Flynn to discuss a number of topics including; touring, fan appreciation, and recording the new album. The new wave of thrash metal is here to stay, and we are glad to have a respected, and killer band like Machine Head leading the charge.
