New Yorker’s have to admit something to themselves. We are literally insane for cupcakes. Cover them with any sweet confection, and we will gobble them right up. There’s just something so special about a food that bring’s you back to childhood birthdays, a time of innocence. That is why we all should count our lucky star’s that the famed Molly’s Cupcakes of Chicago has decided to grace our fair city with its presence.

The LocalBozo crew was fortunate to gain access to Molly’s soft opening party. Once we walked through the door we could see wide smiles on everyone’s faces. The store officially opens this Sunday at 9am. And, it is located on the corner of Bleecker Street and Sixth Avenue, in the vibrant Greenwich Village. Their menu is huge and sure to please any cupcake aficionado. But, no one is a bigger fan of Molly’s Cupcakes than Ron Bennington, co-host of XM Radio’s Ron & Fez Show.

Bennington is such a huge fan of Molly’s, that a cupcake has even been made in his name. The Ron Bennington Cupcake creation is made with a combination of; peanut butter, butterscotch and chocolate. Throughout the soft opening party, patrons were clamoring to order a, “Bennington.” And in a classic move, most were gulping large sips of milk after each creamy bite. The,”Ron Bennington,” is the best selling cupcake at Molly’s of Chicago, and soon to be NYC!

The Ron & Fez Show represented in a major way at Molly’s soft opening party. The show’s other host, Fez Whatley arrived at Molly’s donning a giant cupcake costume. Whatley posed for pictures with listeners, and customers while he infused loads of humor throughout the day. At one point Fez called in live to the show and spoke to Bennington about the success of the namesake cupcake, and the great crowd on hand.

We are thrilled to see Molly’s Cupcakes enter into the fray of the New York City dessert scene. And if what we’ve seen holds true, they are sure to make a sweet impression.
