Blog: Hot and Bothered at Dean Street Brooklyn
It’s never too early to get into the spirit of Valentine’s Day, especially when it comes to all the sweet eats involved. Somehow however, this special day filled with love and romance has a road block in it’s way- the same old tired box of mixed stale chocolates that are often given last minute as gifts. Thursday night at the laid back and cozy Dean Street bar in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, all of these passe conventions were broken for ‘Hot & Bothered,’ presented by With Love, From Brooklyn and Cupcakes Take the Cake.
As we walked through the doors of Dean Street, a wave of fresh baked goodness wafted to our nostrils. The event’s producers gathered not one, but a literal cornucopia of some of the best and most celebrated pastry companies in New York City. The full room of curious onlookers gathered around several high top tables featuring various baked wares from around town. With a happy hour cocktail or beer in hand, patrons roamed the bar space while sampling a little bit of everything.
While others were huddled around the delicious and ornate cupcakes from well known bakers like Butter Lane, we had other treats in mind to sample. Our group made a quick beeline to the table loaded with delectable Macaroons from where else, Danny Macaroons. Having grown up eating the canned variety, we were blown away by the freshly prepared desserts in front of us. With each bite, the handheld treat yielded distinct flavors of coconut, honey, and some chocolate thrown in as well. They are perfect for any type of party since they are both easy to eat and pleasing to look at.
‘Hot & Bothered’ producer With Love, From Brooklyn was on hand with a table full of fantastic sugary products. And as a cherry on top of this already sweet night out they were raffling a specially made With Love, From Brooklyn Hot & Bothered gift set featuring: Jacques Torres Wicked Hot Chocolate and a Wicked Chocolate Bar, Nunu Chocolates Mezcal Chili Truffles, and Spoonable Chili Caramel. Valentine’s Day definitely came early for the winner! If you’re looking to impress that special someone or secret admirer with a quality product, why not pick up some homegrown treats right here in the New York City area. Then you can finally kick that tired old heart shaped box to the curb for good!
