More than 1600 New Yorkers came down to Openhouse for the first Winter Edition to try sandwiches from the most creative chefs in the city. And, the votes are in: Hudson Common is the champion by a landslide! The Hudson Hotel restaurant featured their French Toast Grilled Cheese con gouda, ricotta, cheddar, cheese curds and a maple drizzle. Wintertime is the perfect time for something sweet – because, as Gothamist’s Nell Casey points out, we’re still aways away from jort season. Second place was Queens’ Twist ‘n Smash’d followed by FAME by Alex Mitow, Sons of Essex and Mrs. Dorsey’s Kitchen. Note to self: french toast instead of bread.
